Game 3: Pre-Game Notes

12:25 PM — A few photos…

Craig Camay is wearing #43 this week. In case you forgot, he's been kind enough to shave it into his own head for you.

Second-leading tackler Chris Pollard

10:45 AM — WR Oderick Turner is out with an injury today, and WR Antoine Rivera is active.  New DB Brandon Clarke will wear #24, and new OL/DL Derik Steiner wears #55.  Kicker Craig Camay is slated to wear #43.

Second game, second new sheet of turf for the Trenton Steel.  If you were here last week, you’ll notice it looks a lot better than it did last time…but it still isn’t the team’s actual “home turf.”

9:00 AM — I’m on my way to the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton for just the second home game in franchise history, but figured I’d get some pre-game notes up for you early risers.  Don’t have tickets yet?  Check out trentonsteel.com for more information.

First off, the team has made some roster moves inbetween last Saturday’s heartbreaking 76-73 loss to the Erie Explosion and today’s 1:05 PM game against the Fayetteville Force.

Two-way lineman Derik Steiner and defensive back Brandon Clarke have both been signed and are expected to be active for today’s game.  DB R.J. Cobbs was released and WR Ron Keels, Jr. has been placed on the suspended list to make room on the roster.

Steiner is 6-foot-2 and 310 pounds and played collegiately at Morehead State.  He has previous indoor football experience with the IFL’s Green Bay Blizzard.

Clarke, 5-foot-9 and 190 pounds, also has past experience with the Blizzard, and played his college ball at Upper Iowa.

In addition, you can read my story on WR Dan Huff (pictured), who is starting to emerge as the face of the franchise after just two weeks in a Steel uniform.

Huff leads the team 16 catches…but what are some other team statistics?  Here’s a complete look at the Steel stats through the first two games of the season.
