Welcome To Steel Gameday

Starting with Week 2 of the SIFL season, Steel Gameday will be the place to be for up-to-the-minute updates from the field both at home and on the road at Trenton Steel games.

I’m Mike Ashmore, and I’ve been brought in by the Steel to provide a blog to cover the team in addition to the stories on Titanium Times that you’re already reading during the week at TrentonSteel.com.  Some of you might already be familiar with my “Thunder Thoughts” or “Inside The Trenton Devils” blogs.  I’ve covered the Trenton Thunder for the past eight seasons, the Trenton Devils for the past three and have over 850 games of experience covering professional sports since 2003.

What can you expect here?  What can’t you expect, really…live in-game updates, photos, video footage and interviews, analysis, quotes directly from the locker room and so much more will become a weekly fixture here.  I’ll be traveling with the team on the road to provide updates from their games in Erie, Harrisburg and Fayetteville as well, so you’ll want to check back every gameday for the best coverage you’ll find of the team anywhere.

But Steel Gameday kicks off on Saturday night, when the Steel hold the inaugural home opener against the Erie Explosion.  I’ll be writing live from field level all season, providing the unique perspective of being as close to the action as it gets without actually putting a helmet on as the Steel go for the SIFL Championship.

Your comments, questions and suggestions are welcomed and encouraged.  I’ll check the comments on the blog during the game, and you can always reach me via e-mail at mashmore98 AT gmail.com.  And be sure to follow me on Twitter at mashmore98 for updates as well.

Glad to see you covering the Steel too Mike! Very excited to see this game tomorrow night and see what the SIFL is all about. Have to admit the email I read tonight during the devils game made me nervous. Not sure what to think about a field imported by the opposing team!
